My favorite classes in school were of course my art classes, but I also enjoyed subjects related to anthropology and chemistry. My interest in anthropology has lead me to the study of different cultures and ultimately to the interpretation of personal identity in many of my portraits and artwork. My interest in chemistry has lead me to explore the possibilities of surface design solely as an artistic expression. Thermoplastic fiber (polyester) has been of particular interest to me. Polyester's molecular properties break down to become fluid at certain temperatures... thus making it possible to reshape the fabric. The results can be seen in many of my recent art pieces. While my work is very personal to me and depicts my emotions, thoughts, experiences and experiments I would rather the viewer focus on their own individual interpretation of my work and connect to it in their own way. Because I do not want to influence the viewer, I do not name individual pieces of my work, but simply number them sequentially in various series.
